And Another Thing

Aging process

We all remember watching the physically-mature-beyond-his-years Greg Oden play in high school, and wondering how a 16-year-old kid could look old enough to slip into the movies on the senior discount.

Well, Oden's met his match in a kid (man?) named Jerry Joseph.

Joseph is an allegedly 16-year-old hoops star at fabled football school Odessa Permian High in Texas, except maybe he isn't. Turns out there are some coaches in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., who suspect he's really Guerdwich Montimere, who starred at Dillard High in Lauderdale and graduated in 2007. If so, he's actually 22.

Here's the twist: At the same time Joseph is facing those allegations, feds are claiming Joseph isn't Montimere, but he is an illegal from Haiti. So he's got that not going for him, too.

Meanwhile, there's the whole Odessa Permian thing -- Permian being the high school made famous by H.G. Bissinger's book "Friday Night Lights," and by the film of the same name.

So, in light of that, maybe Joseph isn't Montimere at all.

Maybe he's really Brian Chavez. Or Mike Winchell.

An inside joke, just for you FNL fans.
