Jamie Schaafsma scored twice as Flint defeated Muskegon 5-2 in Game 7 of an IHL semifinal Wednesday in Muskegon.
The Generals, the No. 4 seed, completed their upset of the top-seeded Muskegon Lumberjacks and advance to meet the Komets in the Turner Cup finals.
The Komets, the No. 2 seed, will hold home-ice advantage for the finals as they go for their third consecutive Turner Cup. The first game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Coliseum.
Schaafsmas first goal came 15 seconds into the game. He scored again on a power play at 9:17 to extend the lead to 2-0.
Flints John Ronan answered a Muskegon goal with one of his own at 6:26 of the second period to make it 3-1. Pascal Rheaume and Tyler Howells assisted on Flints second power-play goal.
Howells scored at 10:20 of the second period to give Flint a 4-2 lead. John Mori scored an empty net goal for Flint at 19:12 of the third period.
Rob Nolan made 27 saves in the victory. Sebastien Centomo made 23 saves in the loss.
