Snoozer so far

At the end of one period at Game 1 of the Turner Cup Finals, it's scoreless.

And it's been boring.

Both teams seem to be playing too carefully, and the Komets don't look as if they're playing at full speed. They gave up on a couple icings they could have beat out.

The Fort Wayne penalty kill looked good, though, going 2 for 2.

  • Flint's Ben Boudreau was injured early, thanks to a hit by David Hukalo, who got an interference penalty from referee Jim Hawthorne.
  • The Komets scratched Mitch Woods from the lineup and replaced him with Brad MacMillan.
  • The public-address system was failing before the game because it was struck by lightning, and some fans are still having trouble understanding anything being said on the home side.
