Football developments

Things could be interesting scheduling-wise for some area high school football teams.

The ACAC will play this year without Southern Wells as a football member of the league, but four ACAC teams will remain on the Raiders' schedule -- Bluffton, Garrett, South Adams and Adams Central.

In fact, the game against the Jets will be part of the ACAC's Day at Ball State on Sept. 25.

The games will be Bluffton vs. Southern Wells at 10 a.m., Woodlan-Garrett at 1 p.m., Heritage-Leo at 4 p.m. and Adams Central-South Adams at 7 p.m.

As far as the SAC goes, five of the league's teams still don't have replacements for Elmhurst (which will close in less than a month) on their schedules.

Four-time defending SAC champion Bishop Dwenger, Snider, South Side, North Side and Harding all will have a bye week if replacements aren't found.

Concordia has Pendleton Heights, Luers plays Brebeuf, Northrop has Anderson and Wayne plays Rolling Meadows of Illinois.
