Denali needs his beauty sleep.

Dog gone it

A picture is worth a thousand words - it's cliche, I know.

Yet when I look at the picture my husband snapped of Denali, it made clear what Mark was trying to say: Denali was annoyed. Upset. Confused. Irritated. Exasperated. Vexed.

It seems that the new upstairs neighbor and her kids were excited about moving in, so excited that they felt like leading a stampede across the hardwood floors.

Good for them. Not good for Mark - or Denali, who was missing out on his "8 p.m. lay on the rug and wait for bed time" ritual.

Would it be wrong to ask the neighbor to quiet down so lying dogs can sleep?

(Editor's note: No worries, though. Denali managed to find enough energy to find, retrieve and carry several sticks on our walk this morning.)
