Trine elects 2 new trustees

Retired execs Rolland, Mayberry join university board

Two retired business executives have been elected to the Trine University board of trustees, according to the Angola school.

Ian M. Rolland, retired chairman of Lincoln National Corp., and Phillip H. Mayberry, retired president of Centennial Wireless, will be the newest members of the Trine board.

Mayberry worked more than 35 years with telecommunications companies, the last 10 as president of Centennial Wireless.

While at Centennial, he grew the company from fewer than 100 employees to more than 1,500, and annual revenue from $500,000 to more than $500 million, according to the statement.

Mayberry’s extensive community involvement includes 15 years and two board terms with the Mad Anthonys, a Fort Wayne-based fundraising organization for children’s charities.

He is a member and past board member of the Youth Services Foundation, a fundraising organization supporting a children’s government program.

Rolland, of Fort Wayne, began his career at Lincoln National Life in 1956, becoming senior vice president of Lincoln National Life Insurance Co. in 1973 and president and a director of Lincoln National Corp. in 1975. He was named its chief executive officer in 1977 and chairman and CEO in 1992.

Rolland retired from LNC in 1998 and now serves on the boards of directors of corporations, including NiSource and Bright Horizons Family Solutions.
