The School of Creative Arts at the University of Saint Francis has announced the appointment of animator Liz Holzman and artist Scott Ziegler to the staff.
Liz Holzman, three-time Emmy Award winning director and producer for “Animaniacs” and “Pinky and the Brain” will join the USF staff this summer as Director of the Computer Animation Program.
Ms. Holzman has a 30-year career in animation, having worked on projects for studios including Walt Disney, Universal, Warner Brothers, and Film Roman. She has worked in the Animation Industry as a producer, director, writer, story artist, character designer and animator, and on many different types of projects, from feature films to television series and commercials. For the last five years, she has been the Animation Department Chair at the Portland Art Institute. Holzman studied at Mills College and the California Institute of the Arts where she received her MFA in Film Graphics.
Internationally recognized artist Scott Ziegler will join the school this fall. Ziegler began his career as a toy designer after graduating from Loyola University Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts, sculpting for companies including Disney, McDonalds and Sega. After leaving the toy industry, Ziegler pursued both a Master’s in Education from Loyola University Chicago and a Master’s in Fine Arts from Northern Illinois University.
Ziegler was selected as an Emerging Artist by Ceramics Monthly magazine in 2006, and was a featured artist for the magazine in 2009 when the article “The Pursuit of Perfection” was published. His work was also selected for publication in Clay Times magazine and was included in “500 Tiles,” published by Lark Books. Ziegler’s work has been juried into many competitive national and international exhibitions including the “12th Beijing International Art Exposition,” the “5th World Ceramic Biennale 2009 Korea International Competition” and “Biennial 25” at the South Bend Museum of Art.
The School of Creative Arts (SOCA) is an accredited school by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).
