The TinCaps collected a season-high 17 hits in the 12-10 loss to West Michigan in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday. Jason Hagerty had two two-run home runs. He finished with three hits.
"I felt really good in spring training swinging the bat," said Hagerty, whose average went from .256 to .270 after the first game. He has three home runs. "I was taking good swings. Once I got here, I don't know what it was. I really wasn't the same. I had a little bit of a slump. I'm focused on getting back through the ball and being nice and relaxed. Hopefully I can run with it from here."
Jeudy Valdez and Nate Freiman also had three hits for Fort Wayne.
