Canterbury senior Kate DeSimone won her second straight 1,600-meter state championship Friday at Indiana University.
DeSimone took the lead on the third lap and pulled away from Culver Academies' Waverly Neer on the final lap to win comfortably in 4:54.
Neer was second and Bishop Luers junior Annie Shank was third.
DeSimone won the event last year in 4:56.
In other events, Northrop sophomore Demetra Taylor was second in the 100 hurdles and Elmhurst senior Cora Tatum duplicated her third-place finish from last year in the long jump.
