As a new member of the Tall Tails blog, I wanted to start by introducing you to my two cats – Keyser and Alibi.
Keyser is the elder stateswoman of the family – adopted in 1995 during my first year living in Fort Wayne. She has a contrarian streak but is largely a loving cat that has mellowed over time. Some have called her coloring splotchy but I prefer marbled.
And through some freak occurrence, the hair never grew back on her pink belly from after she was fixed.
She was named after a character played by one of my favorite actors in one of my favorite movies – Keyser Soze from The Usual Suspects.
After a few years of having Keyser, I decided to adopt an adorable black and white playmate for Keyser. The only thing is Keyser didn't really appreciate it.
While the cats tolerate each other they never became best friends like I had hoped.
I named the kitten Alibi – nickname Ali – after a poll in the JG newsroom. I was covering courts at the time and put Alibi on the list just because I liked the way it sounded. That was the name most people chose.
Sometimes I joke now that I named her that because she often needs an alibi.
She is a sweet-natured cat with quite a belly – my husband Ehren calls her low-rider. She follows everyone from room-to-room and loves to snuggle up next to you with an amazingly loud purr. And she begs constantly for her favorite toy – the ring from the milk container.
Can't wait to tell you more about them in the future.
