Statement issued Monday:

Who Will Be the Next Miss Indiana?

And Will She Go On to Be Miss America?

Indianapolis, June 1, 2010 - Two years ago, Katie Stam was crowned Miss Indiana in Zionsville. She then went on to become Indiana's first Miss America in January of 2009. Can Indiana crown a future Miss America again? The Indiana pageant faithful think so.

"In recent years, we've had so many beautiful, talented and intelligent young women compete for scholarships and the honor of representing Indiana at Miss America," said Aren Straiger, Miss Indiana Pageant Co-Director. "Nicole Pollard, our current Miss Indiana was a Top 15 National Finalist at the Miss America 2010 pageant in Las Vegas," "And Nicole Rash, Miss Indiana 2007 was named First Runner-up at Miss America2008," Straiger added.

"Indiana is on a hot streak!" said Frank Ricketts, Miss Indiana Co-Director. "With the outstanding group of competitors we have, we believe that there will soon be another Miss Indiana crowned Miss America – maybe even this year!" Ricketts added.

Twenty-nine young women from across Indiana arrive in Zionsville, Sunday, June 20, 2010, in their quest to become the next Miss Indiana and possibly Indiana's second Miss America in three years. These women, each of whom has earned a local title to be eligible to compete, have been working to perfect their talent and fitness while serving their communities and personal platforms, all in the hopes of representing Indiana at the Miss America pageant in January of 2011.

In addition to Indiana's success at Miss America, Indiana has been consistently competitive in the five-year-old Miss America's Outstanding Teen competition, with three Indiana representatives placing in the Top 10, including Lydia Daley, the current Miss Indiana's Outstanding Teen.

Zionsville and the Zionsville High School Performing Arts Center is the proud home of the Miss Indiana Scholarship Pageant. Miss Indiana preliminary competitions are June 23rd and 24th and Miss Indiana 2010 will be crowned during the final competition on Saturday, June 26, 2010. The Miss Indiana's Outstanding Teen Competition is Friday, June 25, 2010.
