Byrd looks to be itching to play

INDIANAPOLIS - There was Russell Byrd out on the floor before the girls game shooting free throws.

No the Blackhawk Christian graduate's status with the Indiana Boys All-Stars hasn't changed. His foot is still healing after breaking it last month, and he is still out from basketball action until August.

But there he was on the Conseco Fieldhouse floor (with his black boot sans crutches) on the left foot, shooting free throws. And not missing any of the five or so he shot.

Maybe they could get him a uniform and make him a designated free throw shooter? It is an all-star game, they could just make up a new rule.

Probably not, though.
