Avilla man flips truck into creek

An Avilla man was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital early Sunday morning after flipping his car into a creek.

According to the Noble County Sheriff’s Department, Zachary T. Kesling was driving east on Ind. 8 when he crossed the center line near County Road 150 East and went off the north side of the road. Kesling’s GMC Sierra struck a guardrail and went airborne, sliding and rolling down an embankment.

The truck came to rest on its roof in a creek. Kesling was able to keep his head above water and call for help. A nearby resident heard Kesling and called the police, according to the release.

Albion emergency crews extracted Kesling from the truck and he was taken to Parkview Hospital with injuries to his chest and legs, according to the release.

The crash is still under investigation and charges are pending, according to the release.
