So it turns out we're maybe not on the outer fringes of Siberia, up here in the Zone of Invisibility known as Fort Wayne.
This upon the news that the IHSAA has decide to once again award the girls state basketball finals to Fort Wayne, in an executive board vote late Thursday. There was a good deal of crabbing -- albeit largely muted -- from some of the more distant schools about having to play here in March, but apparently the job the city did putting it on far outweighed the geographic disadvantages.
Not that any more viable options presented themselves. The only other bidder for the event was Terre Haute, which is practically in Illinois. Not much difference in geographic isolation there.
So fill your gas tanks, ladies. You're coming back to Fort Wayne in 2011.
