This is the "front" of the cloth, although the back looks very interesting, as well.

The numbers show the order in which the different sections of the cloth are knit.

This is the back of the piece.

I'm preparing to move my yarn stash (and everything else) this week, and I'm in-between scheduled interviews, so this is just a short show.

Continuing with my theme of wash/dish/anycloths that are suitable either for Craft Hope's Project 8 or your own various uses, I've been experimenting with different ways of taking a small piece of garter stitch and adding to it to create a great, big piece of garter stitch. Since I am working from the inside out, I'm calling them all spiral squares.

The wonderful thing about this method is that you get little bits of gratification along the way. You can work for as little as 15 minutes and complete a "block" of work. Also, since I hate sewing seams, I've made sure to just pick up stitches and, when possible, leave live stitches along the way to be picked up later, when needed.

My sample photographs are not beautiful, I know, but I am literally just using up bits of worsted-weight cotton as I come to them. You, of course, may use whatever combination of yarns suits your fancy.

There are several iterations of this type of cloth in my head, but I'm calling this version "Ten by Ten", because you start out with a ten-stitch square and end up with a ten-inch square.

The complete instructions are in the pdf included with this show, but the basics are this:

1) Make a 10-stitch-wide square.

2) Make another one.

3) Make a 20-stitch-wide square.

4) Make a 30 x 10 rectangle.

5) Make a 40 x 20 rectangle.

6) Make a 50 x 10 rectangle.
