INDIANAPOLIS – An annual Fourth of July festival in downtown Indianapolis will be canceled this year because of the poor economy.
The Downtown Fourth Fest at the American Legion Mall has been sponsored in the past by radio station WFMS-FM. But station marketing manager Chris Wheat says the event will not take place this year because of budget constraints.
The Fourth of July festivities at the American Legion Mall have traditionally included military displays, music and food vendors.
There will still be fireworks in downtown Indianapolis on July 4. Fireworks will be launched from the top of the Regions Bank building.
