2010 Fourth of July fireworks, events

Following is a list of Independence Day events in Fort Wayne, northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio:

Indiana

Adams County

Decatur : Fireworks begin at dusk July 4 at the Riverside Center.

Allen County

Fort Wayne : Fireworks begin at 10:30 p.m. July 4 at IPFW. The Alumni Relations Rooftop Party in parking garage No. 1 is open to the public and begins at 6 p.m. Entry is $5 a car. The South campus is open to the public for parking, with food vendors scattered throughout.

The Cathedral Choir's annual "Happy Birthday America" concert begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception downtown. The concert and parking are free.

Leo-Cedarville: The 10th annual Freedom Festival begins at 2 p.m. July 4 at Riverside Gardens Park at Schwartz and Leo-Grabill roads. Food vendors, children's rides and live music will take place throughout the day. Fireworks begin at dusk. Parking $3.

DeKalb County

Auburn: National Military History Center is host to a series of patriotic activities on the Courthouse Square downtown this week.

Kids Night – From 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, children can write letters to soldiers, climb the National Guard Rock Wall and learn marching drills.

Support the Troops Night – From 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, the center will collect items to ship to deployed troops.

Auburn will be host to a Military Vehicle Cruise-In from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Garrett: Garrett Heritage Days Festival 2010 will take place Saturday and July 4 at Eastside Park, including a 5K run/walk, live music and parade. Fireworks begin at 10 p.m. July 4.

Huntington County

Huntington: Fireworks start at dusk July 4, with a rain date of July 5, at Huntington North High School.

Roanoke: The Patriotic Pops Concert, featuring the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, will take place at 8 p.m. Saturday. Gates open at 6 p.m. with pre-concert entertainment by the Company Singers. Fireworks start at dusk July 4 at Roanoke Park on Seminary Street.

Warren: Fireworks start at dusk Thursday at Tower Park on Grover Street. The 18th annual Antique Tractor and Engine Show will be Friday through July 4 at the Daugherty Cos. The 43rd annual parade begins at 9 a.m. Saturday in downtown Warren.

Kosciusko County

North Webster: Live music begins at 7 p.m. Friday in the town park. Fireworks begin at dusk Saturday on Webster Lake.

Syracuse: Fireworks begin at 10 p.m. Saturday at Lake Wawasee. Fireworks begin at 10 p.m. July 4 at Syracuse Lake.

Warsaw: Fireworks begin at dusk Saturday at Winona Lake.

Noble County

Albion: Fireworks begin at dusk Friday, with a rain date of Saturday, at Central Noble School.

Kendallville: Events will begin near the Jansen Pavilion at Bixler Lake at 5 p.m. July 4, including games, kids' activities and bands. Fireworks begin at dusk.

Rome City: There will be a car show, vendors and rides Saturday at Kelly Park. Fireworks begin at dusk Saturday, with a rain date July 4, over the dam on Sylvan Lake.

Steuben County

Angola: Parade begins at 1 p.m. July 4 downtown, with music, concessions and an auction afterward at Commons Park. Fireworks begin at dusk.

Hamilton: A 5K run/walk, Church of Christ annual pie sale and Lions Club chicken barbecue will take place at the Fire Department on Saturday, with other events throughout the day at the town hall and public beach. Fireworks begin at dusk July 4 at Hog Hill. Gates opens at 6 p.m.

Wells County

Bluffton: Fireworks begin at 10 p.m. July 4 at Bluffton-Harrison Middle School.

Whitley County

Columbia City: Fireworks begin at dusk Saturday at Morsches Park. Vendors and kids' activities begin at 6 p.m., with live music at 7:30 p.m.

Ohio

Defiance County

Defiance: Fireworks begin at dusk Saturday at Pontiac Park.

Van Wert County

Van Wert: Lima Symphony Pops Orchestra will play Friday evening in Fountain Park. Fireworks begin at dusk Friday at Van Wert County Regional Airport.
