Statement issued Tuesday:

Navistay Campaign Boosts Job Retention Team with Addition of Top Site Selector

Strategic Development Group Amps Expertise in Community Fight for Navistar

Fort Wayne, Ind. (June 29, 2010) — Bolstering efforts to keep Navistar a thriving part of the community, the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance (Alliance) has engaged Strategic Development Group, Inc. (SDG) to assist in the comprehensive job retention effort currently underway. The nationally known site selection firm will work in concert with local economic development officials.

“Extraordinary times require extraordinary efforts, and this is one of those times,” said Mayor Tom Henry. “We’re playing for keeps. Navistar’s enormous impact on our area economy and its 1,000-plus exceptional jobs demand that we bring every possible resource to bear in our fight to keep the company here. Fort Wayne is where Navistar can build for the future. Strategic Development Group will help us make that case emphatically.”

Throughout the Navistar campaign, SDG will collaborate with the Alliance-led team on all aspects of the initiative, including strategic analysis, plan development, proposal preparation, principal interaction, and facilitating project management.

“Navistar’s presence here is crucial to the vitality of our region,” noted Andi Udris, Alliance President. “Our core team will benefit from the expertise and insight that Strategic Development Group can bring from a site selector’s point of view. By engaging SDG, we are seeking an outsider’s perspective to help our team create innovative strategies to help us convince Navistar that Fort Wayne is the place to be for generations to come.”

SDG is a professional consulting firm with clients across America in both the private and public sectors. It offers expert site location, negotiation and economic development services.

“We look forward to assisting the Fort Wayne community in developing and implementing an aggressive strategy and business case to retain and grow Navistar,” stated Mark Williams, President, SDG. “Navistar’s presence is a prize worth fighting for, and we are delighted to be part of the Fort Wayne team.”

SDG advises a broad portfolio of clients encompassing large multinational and United States-based companies, in addition to state, regional and local economic development organizations. The consultancy’s rich experiences and dual perspectives add significant value to each user group. Its operations are based in Columbia, South Carolina.

Funding for SDG’s services to the Alliance will come from the City of Fort Wayne. The agreement specifies a not-to-exceed contract for $95,000. SDG begins its involvement immediately.

The Navistay team continues to encourage all members of the community to join in the Navistar, Navistay campaign and show their support for keeping Navistar’s Truck Design and Technology Center and its employees in Fort Wayne.
