Verbatim: Woman’s body found in farm field

Statement issued shortly after 4 p.m. Friday by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department:

Kosciusko County authorities have located the body of a female in a bean field south of Leesburg that is possibly that of the missing 19 year old from Warsaw.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, along with the assistance of the Indiana State Police Aviation Section, located the body of a female shortly after noon today in a bean field south of Leesburg.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies expanded their search area today for missing Lara Saykosy, 19, of Warsaw, with the assistance of an Indiana State Police airplane which had spotted a body approximately 30-40 yards east of Old Road 15 (also named “Baseline Road”).

Officer’s initially had search the area near the railroad tracks both north and south of the Whispering Pines Trailer Park, and had concentrated more towards the south from statements provided by her mother.

The Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office has taken the recovered body to Fort Wayne for completion of an autopsy that will determine the cause of death.
