Abortion threats rebuked

– Allen County Right to Life’s executive director Friday said the group was “saddened” to learn of violent threats made against the city’s only abortion doctor.

Dr. George Klopfer said in a federal court filing this week he received a death threat on his unpublished home phone after filing a suit against Allen County’s health department. The suit challenges a patient safety ordinance that puts new requirements on itinerant medical providers such as Klopfer.

“Violence is never the answer,” Cathie Humbarger, executive director of Allen County Right to Life, said in a statement. “The comments made by the unidentified individual do not represent Allen County Right to Life and are not profitable for the right to life movement. We regret that these comments were made and rebuke them 100 percent.”
