Rumor control

Despite the rumor, the Komets have made no inroads into having former Komets enforcer Olivier Legault at training camp, general manager David Franke said.

And no, Brandon Sugden isn't on the Komets' radar either, Franke said.

But toughness is something Fort Wayne is certainly after, as it enters the Central Hockey League.

"A bigger tough guy, a big guy like Legault, his type of size, that's what we're looking for," Franke said. "We've got some big dudes in this league and we're looking at this year to have a bigger guy to take on the heavyweights. That's an area we need to address."

The Komets are also negotiating with defensemen Frankie DeAngelis and Brandon Warner, both of whom manned the blue line as Fort Wayne won the IHL championship last season.

The other big priority at this point? A No. 2 goaltender to aid Nick Boucher, and former Flint goalie Rob Nolan remains a possibility.

"We're working on another goalie, but nothing's close," Franke said. "Rob Nolan is in the mix."
