Rivergreenway carries first riders to IPFW

City officials Tuesday dedicated the newest section of the Rivergreenway, a nearly half-mile stretch that connects Johnny Appleseed Park to the Ron Venderly Bridge at IPFW.

The 10-foot-wide trail is the first phase of a three-mile extension, which will connect the path with Shoaff Park by 2013. The next phase will run between the west side of the bridge and St. Joe Center Road.

The new trail begins at the Rivergreenway on the north side of Johnny Appleseed Park and runs along the south side of the Coliseum Boulevard bridge over the St. Joseph River. It also links to the newly paved 1.25-mile Native Trees of Indiana River Walk at IPFW.
