A Fort Wayne couple face federal charges of drug dealing after the husband allegedly negotiated the sale of a kilogram of cocaine, valued at $32,000, to an undercover informant.
According to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court, Francisco Ruiz, 28, and his wife, Wendy, both of the 4700 block of Pleasant Valley Drive, were arrested and charged with possessing with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine.
When a U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency task force and Fort Wayne police searched the couples home, they found the kilogram brick of cocaine, a money counter and plastic wrap. Ruiz said the couple were moving to another home, so police went to that location, court documents said.
There Ramirez gave them consent to search the house. Police and agents found $20,000 in cash stashed in an air duct, a loaded handgun, and receipts for $15,000 in new furniture and a $26,000 vehicle, according to court documents.
Ramirez said neither she nor Ruiz is employed, according to court documents.
