Where is public outcry for proposed tax hike?
Recently, the East Allen County Schools board received approval to put a referendum on the Nov. 2 ballot that could raise property taxes $360 a year for a home assessed at $100,000. Few homes are assessed at such a low figure, so most people would pay two or three times that figure. The property tax cap put in place by state government when it raised the sales tax did not control things for long.
I cannot believe EACS proposed this and that the County Council went along with it. And I cannot believe that there has not been a terrific outcry from citizens who will be affected by this tax hike.
Is everyone so apathetic that they dont pay attention? People had better start forcing our lawmakers to be more responsible to their constituents, or they can simply suffer the consequences.

Republicans are unable to govern nation well
The tea parties say they want to take back their country. If they get what they see as their country, they will take my country from me. How do they plan to do that? If they allow democracy to work, thats fine. Ill be disappointed, but I can live with it. Ill work to get my country back, but Ill do it without the anger, slander, lies and bigotry.
My second question is why is the GOP so concerned about government spending? During the George W. Bush years, the Republican government spent billions of dollars and tens of thousands of lives on off-the-books wars the administration lied us into. A large percentage of the deficit Republicans are so vocal about now resulted from Bushs wars and his plutocratic tax cuts to the very rich. They allowed money to be spent to kill people and benefit the very rich but are now horrified that money is being spent to save lives and see to it that everyone has an equal opportunity to pursue happiness.
Republicans do not know how to govern. They just know how to run for office.

Fox News, others owe Sherrod an apology
The Shirley Sherrod debacle has made some things evident. By jumping to conclusions about a video clip from a known propagandist with an agenda, a good person got hurt. The news channels, many politicians and even the organization she made a speech for, the NAACP, all ruled her guilty without investigating the story. The Fox News channel again showed its bias against the Obama administration by demanding her resignation, and the Obama administration showed its fear by agreeing.
After it was shown how wrong most everyone was, the Obama administration, her boss who fired her and the NAACP did the right thing and apologized to her. Fox News and the other bigoted propagandists went on to spin this into all the Obama administrations fault. It gave no apology for how it helped orchestrate a lot of what happened, just some spinning to carry on its unfair and unbalanced programming.
All people should boycott the Fox News channel until it stops muckraking or changes its name to the Right Wing Wacko channel, or at least until it apologizes to Sherrod.
