FORT WAYNE – Take it or bake it, it’s your choice.
For the past few months, Mama DeLuca’s, 714 E. Dupont Road, has given customers the option of having their pizza baked onsite or taking it home to bake themselves.
To promote that concept, the pizzeria is teaming with the onsite Subway for a limited-time offer.
Buy a large specialty pizza – such as spinach chicken pesto, butcher’s best or Hawaiian – or a large three-topping pizza, and get a free sub that would normally cost $5. You can order the sub then or get a coupon to pick it up later.
This offer is good through Labor Day.
Mama DeLuca’s has pre-made (unbaked) pizzas in a cooler, or customers can have one made while they wait. The redesigned store lets you watch your pizza being assembled, similar to the Subway concept.
The pizzeria also offers several sauces, including Alfredo, pesto, barbecue, ranch, Buffalo, mayonnaise and traditional with garlic, basil and oregano.

Dairy Queen donates for each Blizzard sold
Buy a Blizzard, help a sick child.
That’s the goal of the national “Miracle Treat Day” at Dairy Queen, which will have its fifth annual fundraiser Thursday.
Participating locations will donate at least $1 of every Blizzard sold to the Children’s Miracle Network, a non-profit that raises money for children’s hospitals. Dairy Queen is a national corporate sponsor.
In Indiana, the money goes to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
Last year’s event raised $185,000 in Indiana and $5.5 million in North America. The Columbia City location, 409 N. Main St., was one of the top 10 fundraising locations in Indiana by raising $3,579.
Applebee’s diners can Go Red for Women
Every Tuesday in August, diners at local Applebee’s restaurants can have 15 percent of their bill donated to the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign.
But you must present the flier to your server. Download the flier at www.heart.org/fortwaynegoesred.
You can also make a donation at the restaurant and get an Applebee’s coupon. This offer is good at participating restaurants in northern Indiana and northwest Ohio.
The goal of Go Red for Women is to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease, which is a leading cause of death for women.
‘Drink for Pink’ at McAlister’s Deli
Now through September, buy a gallon of sweet tea at participating McAlister’s Deli locations and $1 will be donated to the Indianapolis affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Gallons of tea are $4.99.
The Indianapolis affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure ( www.komenindy.org) funds breast cancer research, education and screening events in 21 counties in central Indiana.
A McAlister’s Deli recently opened at 1310 S. Illinois Road.
Last year’s “Drink for Pink” promotion raised $15,000.
Crabfest date shifts to add another star
Crabfest 2010, a fundraiser for Lutheran Life Villages, has pushed back the event two days to Sept. 15.
The move will allow a third member of Discovery’s “Deadliest Catch” cast, Jake Harris, to join his brother, Josh, and Capt. Captain Sig Hansen for the dinner at Memorial Coliseum’s Expo Center. As part of the event, a toast will be made to the brothers’ dad, Captain Phil Harris, who died this year.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; dinner starts at 6:30 p.m.

West Main market accepts food stamps
The Historic West Main Street Farmers Market, 1936 W. Main St., can accept Electronic Benefit Transfer cards (also known as food stamps) for eligible purchases.
The market now has the equipment to handle these transactions, making it one of the few in the state to do so, market master Chris Shatto says.
Market hours are 3 to 8 p.m. Fridays through Oct. 22, rain or shine.
The market is in a parking lot near the Leesburg Road intersection.
