And Another Thing

No ado about not much

Alex Rodriguez finally hit his 600th home run yesterday, an occasion marked by a remarkable lack of occasion, or so media types like this guy say.

Given that only seven players in baseball history have hit 600 dingers, the lack of buzz around A-Rod's feat must surely have something to do with his admitted use of PEDs. Or so the narrative goes.

I'm trying to think of the last time a guy reached 600 homers and there was a substantive buzz.

For instance, I don't recall nearly as much buzz about it when Barry Bonds hit the 600 plateau, and that was long before the steroid talk started to swirl around him. In fact, it seems to me there's been a lot more buzz about A-Rod doing it, simply because so many people are talking about how little buzz there is about it.

If that makes any sense.
