On the run

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly built up his running game while discussing his team during media day Friday.

Kelly emphasized the different looks each back can give the Irish from project starter Armando Allen, a 205-pound back who led the team with 697 rushing yards last year, to back Robert Hughes, a 245-pounder who ran for 416 yards, and Cierre Wood and Jonas Gray.

"That they all have unique styles but great depth at that position," Kelly said.
