Streak busted

The Fort Wayne TinCaps’ eight-game winning streak is over, expiring Tuesday at the hands of the Bowling Hot Rods. One night after coming within an out of being no-hit, they knocked around TinCaps’ pitching for 14 hits and nine runs in a 9-4 victory at Parkview Field.

Not that manager Jose Flores considered that the end of anything in particular.

“I think we had a good stretch there where we got a little cushion as far as Lansing and Bowling Green are concerned,” he said. “If you look at it, everybody’s pretty much fighting for a (playoff) spot. I mean, we came in today with a seven, eight and nine-game lead on a few guys, so it’s still anybody’s race.

“I think it’s gonna come down to the end. It’s just a matter of coming out and having fun and playing well.”
