Max Dedmond is the starter at tight end. He made eight starts last season and appeared in all 12 games.
Dedmond caught 18 passes for 141 yards and one touchdown. It was the most receptions and catch for an IU tight end since Aaron Halterman had 19 catches for 193 yards in 2003.
“We’ve got a good group of tight ends,” IU coach Bill Lynch said. “Max Dedmond is the one with the most experience. He’s done a little bit of everything for us in terms of he’s played split‑out. He’s been kind of a move guy as well as a guy with his hand on the ground. But he’s bigger, stronger, and I certainly think he'll be a factor for us offensively.”
Dedmond entered camp weighing 255 pounds.
Brad Martin is listed as the backup. Martin appeared in all 12 games last year at tight end and on special teams.
