You be the judge at WingFest 2010.
The annual event starts at 5 p.m. Sunday in Piere’s Entertainment Center’s parking lot at the Marketplace of Canterbury.
Participating restaurants include Peanuts, WingStreet, Wings Etc., Hooters, Corner Pocket Pub and some local chefs who will enter the contest on their own.
Categories are mild, flavored, hot and “dangerous.”
Admission is $7 or $5 for kids 12 and younger. Children 3 and younger get in free.
Kid-friendly activities include a moonwalk, clowns and a balloon artist.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Allen County SPCA.
Taste Indiana at Joseph Decuis
Before Joseph Decuis heads to the Big Apple to prepare dinner at the acclaimed James Beard House, it will have a “rehearsal dinner” Monday.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. in Roanoke.
The Indiana-themed menu, which will be matched with wines, features Wagyu short ribs, pork belly, sweetbreads with polenta and an heirloom tomato salad. Appetizers include bourbon-cured trout with sweet-corn pancakes, buckwheat blini with caviar and pigs’ feet fritters. Dessert is a chocolate bête noire torte.
The dinner is $125, which is all-inclusive.
A limited number of seats are left. Call 672-1715 for reservations.
The staff will prepare the same meal in New York City on Aug. 23.
And Joseph Decuis will have its next courtyard wine tasting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The cost is $25, which doesn’t include gratuity. Reservations are required.
Lucky Moose marks Friday the 13th
Change your luck during the Friday the 13th party at the Lucky Moose, 622 E. Dupont Road.
Enjoy 13-cent peel-and-eat shrimp and 13-cent-per-ounce draft beers.
You also can get all-you-can-eat Royal Red shrimp, ribs, tilapia and catfish (with salad bar) for $13.
The party runs 5 to 11 p.m., though drink specials are available all day.

Moosewood offers new $5 specials
Moosewood BBQ is offering a new $5 special that’s available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
Get a tilapia, catfish, pulled pork or pulled chicken sandwich, with fries or red beans and rice, plus a drink.
On Saturdays and Sundays, feast on all-you-can-eat ribs, catfish and tilapia with salad bar, all day for $13.95.
Moosewood, 5775 St. Joe Road, is in the Marketplace of Canterbury, next to Subway.
Diner open Sundays to benefit charity
Northway Diner in Auburn will be open on Sundays this month to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Donations will go to “Team Gavin,” in honor of owner Eric Winebrenner’s nephew, for the annual Light the Night Walk fundraiser.
The diner’s menu includes a variety of homestyle dishes, such as pork steak with stuffing, baked steak, burgers and sandwiches. There are daily specials.
Sunday hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and might be extended into the fall if there’s enough demand, Winebrenner says.
Other hours are 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturdays.
Breakfast is served until 11 a.m., when lunch begins.
Winebrenner took over the diner in May, but Northway has been open for more than 50 years, he says.

Dicky’s opens pizza buffet
Dicky’s Wild Hare, 2910 Maplecrest Road, has a new pizza buffet with favorites like Greek, chicken barbecue and supreme.
The buffet is available 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays and all day Sundays.
It’s $6.99, or $9.99 when paired with the soup and salad bar.
Various pizzas are available on the buffet, along with flatbreads and pasta.
Also at Dicky’s, Island Vibe will perform on the patio from 8 to 10 p.m. Thursday. There is no cover charge.
