Wapakoneta has dance fever for TV show finalist

WAPAKONETA, Ohio – Dance fever has hit a small northwest Ohio town that’s home to one of the finalist on Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance.”

Storefront windows in downtown Wapakoneta are decorated with signs urging support for 18-year-old Kent Boyd.

He’s one of three finalists on the Fox dance contest. The winner will be crowned Thursday night.

Fans in Boyd’s hometown packed a theater to watch him dance one more time on Wednesday night’s show.

One friend who has taken dance classes with him since the two were in middle school says it’s surreal to see Boyd on such a big stage.

Wapakoneta also is the hometown of a man known for a different kind of footwork: astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon.
