It’s important what you wear the first day of school. Girls can pair a T-shirt with a skirt, while logo tees are what’s in for boys.

Making a first impression

What am I going to wear on the first day of school?

It’s a question many kids ask themselves the night before the first day of school. Well, don’t wait until the last second, plan ahead.

It’s important that what you wear on the first day of school is not only “in,” but comfortable. Since it’s usually still hot on the first day of school, shorts and T-shirts might be a good place to start.

Faded denim is back and as popular as ever. Boys’ graphic tees, athletic team tees and jeans are “in,” as well as girls’ tanks tops, graphic tees, skirts, skorts, capris and leggings.

Target has three different popular styles. The first outfit is jeans and a T-shirt (which is $20 altogether). Another is a skirt and your favorite shirt (for about $15), and the last is shorts and a shirt (for about $23).

Children’s Place in Jefferson Pointe is having a sale of 25 percent on uniforms. For girls, short-sleeve shirts are about $7, and long-sleeve shirts are about $7.87. Cute sweaters are from $12.37 to $18.37. Uniform pants and shorts are $9.37.

Spice up your outfit with accessories, such as hair bands for $1.87 or a cute butterfly barrette for $1.87.

For boys, a uniform sweater vest is $12.37 and Chinos are $10.87.

Now you can say you planned ahead. Get shopping!
