Congratulations, Dan Storrs. You are Da Man.
Razorbacks coach Bobby Petrino, that paragon of loyalty, took one look at Gork's cap and said, after answering her initial question, that he would answer no more from her as long as she was wearing that cap.
Coming from a man who's changed hats faster than a NASCAR driver in Victory Lane (quit on Louisville, quit on the Atlanta Falcons, will someday quit on Arkansas) this of course carried enormous weight. Or so you'd think from Storrs' reaction, which was to fire Gork for, I don't know, a wardrobe malfunction or something.
Now was Gork a dim bulb for wearing a Gators cap to an Arkansas news conference?
Sure, she was, even though she is a Florida grad. But there's no way, unless she was also an incompetent reporter, that she should have been fired for it.
On the other hand...we live in an America now where management holds every card and labor is utterly at the mercy of its every crazy whim. So getting fired for your wardrobe selection makes as much sense as anything.
You can get fired for pretty much anything now, including nothing. Consider Renee Gork one more example of that.
