We don't hold with no book-learnin'

Shake your bony fist at Fort Wayne Community Schools superintendent Wendy Robinson all you want. At least she still subscribes to the quaint notion that education should be Job One.

Robinson took a lot of heat for letting high school football twist in the wind this summer while re-organizing the faculty at the city's high schools. She even had the brass to say that, in the greater context of things, she didn't really care about football.

Strange as it might be to say for a man who does what I do for a living, she was absolutely right. Of course, she doesn't live in Texas.

Where, ahem, the priorities are apparently somewhat different.

Sixty bills for a high school football stadium, including a $1 million weight room. And you just know these chicken-fried nitwits are thinking, "Aw, hells, yeah."

After all, trigonometry and English Lit over zig-outs and pulling guards?

Shoot. That just ain't right.
