Staying in shape

Notre Dame football players weren't the only ones training for the upcoming season, Irish coach Brian Kelly also made sure he was physically ready for his first season with the team.

Kelly has worked with a personal trainer and altered his eating habits to make sure he stays in top condition.

"I've taken off a few pounds," Kelly said. "I didn't want to work 20 years to get to Notre Dame and have a heart attack and die. I lost some weight, working out virtually every day and really just trying to lower the chance of all of those things the stress and all that comes with being a college football coach, especially at Notre Dame, from preventing me from doing this job. I want to do it for the rest of my life."

Kelly wouldn't say how much weight he lost, but he did say he dropped a couple of pants sizes.
