Don't diss Scotty, or Pawlowski, or Bloomington

I'm a little frazzled since a friend of mine, who shall remain nameless, although he's a hockey writer....in the south....and blogs a lot....told me he thought Scotty Bowman was a little overrated.

Is this even conceivable?I'm appalled. For the record, the most overrated coaches in NHL history, to me, are Bryan Murray and Mike Keenan.

Overrated coaches were on the brain, since it was the vain of "We've got Game" on Tuesday. (Click the radio button on the top right of this post to listen to the one-hour broadcast.)

I'm wondering, though, is it possible Rob Nolan was overrated? I don't think so, but he certainly has been hyped a lot. He was spectacular last season with the Flint Generals, and now he's signed with the Missouri Mavericks.

Still no word on who the Komets will get to replace Tim Haun as the complement to Nick Boucher in net.

  • I've had a player reach out to me and note that I shouldn't sleep on Brad Pawlowski's chances of making the Komets' roster. Apparently, some of the players are under the impression he has the inside track over Olivier Legault to be the enforcer. Not sure if I believe it, but let's see what the kid does in camp. Here's video.
  • Bloomington has a new coach and he seems like a good one: Jason Christie. Surely, someday, that team will make the playoffs, right? I mean, 16 of 18 are going to the postseason this season, so the odds are with Bloomington.
