Chris Kramer's professional basketball future could be decided in the next three weeks.

Kramer will head to San Antonio on Sept. 7 to work out with the Spurs for a couple days, he said Wednesday.

NBA training camps start at the end of September.

Training camps for overseas clubs begin in the next couple of weeks and those seasons start in October, agent Buddy Baker said.

So something has to be decided soon.

"A lot of times with rookie players, they don't get their first job until mid-September. That's not uncommon," Baker said. "We have a lot of players do that. We always tell guys it's better to wait and take the right job instead of rushing and take a job."

Kramer's top priority still is getting a chance at the NBA.

"Hopefully when I leave (San Antonio), I'll put myself in a better position with a team I didn't get to work out with during the process," Kramer said. "So just a chance to get more eyes on you. People that really understand the game of basketball. I think the Spurs organization is one of the best. They're always right there in the NBA competing for championships. I have a lot of respect for the organization so to get the opportunity to go down there, I'm very excited for.

"But I'm really just excited to see what kind of comes together here in the next couple weeks and just get a chance to keep my career going and playing basketball on the professional level."

Baker said he "absolutely" thinks Kramer is talented enough to play in the league and he's gotten good feedback from NBA clubs about Kramer. Atlanta is "super impressed with how he can defend and thinks he can be an elite defensive player in the NBA."

"But there has to be a (roster) spot and an opportunity available for him," Baker said. "We'll see what happens."
