SI.com names Woodson best No. 26 in NFL history

SI.com has named Fort Wayne native Rod Woodson the top player wearing No. 26 ever to play in the NFL.

The website, a platform of Sports Illustrated magazine, created a photo gallery of what it called the top performers at each jersey number from 00 to 99.

It said it based its decisions on "a combination of factors, including the player's impact on the game, statistics and his team's success during the time he wore the number."

SI.com recognized Woodson, a Snider and Purdue graduate, as "the premier cornerback of his era," noting he was the only active player named to the NFL's 75th Anniversary team in 1994.
