Saturday, Fall Plant Swap, Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St., 10 to 11 a.m. Set aside extra seeds, divisions or full-grown plants of any type, then bring them down to swap for something new. Plants should be healthy, separated into “individual servings” and labeled with either the common or botanical name. When you arrive, you’ll receive a number indicating the order of your turn, and we take turns picking until all the plants have found new homes. Bring a box or bag in which to carry your plants home. The plant swap is free, but phone reservations are requested. Leave a message at 427-6442 with your name, phone number, and your intention to participate.

Sept. 9, Shrubs for Fall Planting, Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St., 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Conservatory horticulturist Andy Force will introduce a variety of shrubs that can be planted yet this fall, discussing their ornamental features, cultural needs and best uses in your landscape. Sept. 11, Blue Ribbon Show of the School Children’s Flower and Vegetable Association, Blackhawk Middle School, 7200 E. State Blvd., 2:30 to 3 p.m. The show is the culmination of this year’s program, which gave every elementary school child a plant last spring. Children took care of their plants and grew flowers and vegetables from SCFVA seeds over the summer.

Sept. 11, The Wells County Master Gardeners fall plant sale, Bluffton Farmers Market, north of the Bluffton Bridge on Main Street, 8 a.m. to noon. A large collection of Hosta and some daylily plants from the Gardens of Donna Binkley, and the late Dr. Victor Binkley will be featured.

Sept. 25, The Bonsai Doctors, Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St., 1 to 3 p.m. Speak one-on-one with a bonsai expert from the Fort Wayne Bonsai Club. Bring in your plant and get all your questions answered. The registration fee enrolls you in the program and includes admission to all the Conservatory gardens. Call 427-6445 to reserve your specific 15-minute time slot.
