SWAT raid ends in misdemeanor arrest

Fort Wayne police were called to a near north-side apartment early Wednesday after being told a man with a gun had barricaded himself inside.

Police were called just after 4 a.m. to 1115 High St. to check on a woman’s well-being. A friend of the woman had called police saying her ex-boyfriend was in the apartment with a gun.

Police tried to make contact with the 28-year-old man but were unsuccessful. They eventually called the department’s Emergency Services Team, also known as a SWAT team.

The man was arrested just after 6 a.m. after officers entered the apartment. The man faces a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.

The woman who was believed to be in danger was not in the home, police said, and no gun was found.
