Mom gets 30 years to life in son's beating death

CLEVELAND – A Cleveland mother has been sentenced to 30 years to life in prison in connection with the beating death of her 5-year-old son.

Angel Glass told the court Wednesday she was sorry, but the judge handed her the maximum after a prosecutor argued she had shown no remorse.

Glass, 25, pleaded guilty to aggravated murder for beating her son, Arshon Baker, last October while punishing him for lifting her dress.

Police said his body was covered with old and new burn scars, bruises and cuts.

The prosecutor told the court Glass changed her story and told police that her boyfriend killed the boy.

In a jailhouse phone conversation, she persuaded the boyfriend to take the rap, the prosecutor said.
