For safe driving, city ranks No. 11

Fort Wayne is the 11th-safest driving city in the nation.

That’s Allstate’s stand.

Allstate Insurance Co. released its sixth annual “America’s Best Drivers Report.”

It ranks America’s 200 largest cities by population to identify which cities have the safest drivers in terms of car-collision frequency.

In the 2010 safest driving city report, Fort Wayne ranks No. 11 in the country. The ranking marks a drop from sixth-safest in 2009.

According to this year’s report, the average driver in Fort Wayne will experience an auto collision every 12 years, which is 16.3 percent less often than the national average of 10 years.

“With a top-20 ranking in our report, Fort Wayne drivers have continued to help keep America’s roadways safer,” said Thomas Clarkson, Allstate Insurance field vice president. “We salute Fort Wayne’s best drivers and recognize their safe driving skills, which make all of our communities safer places to live, work and raise families.”
