Woman shot to death; suspect in custody

FORT WAYNE – A woman was fatally shot early Friday south of McCulloch Park, and Fort Wayne police said they have a suspect in custody.

According to a written statement from Scott Tegtmeyer, police spokesman, police were called at 5:05 a.m. to the area of Lindley and Parkview avenues, near the railroad tracks.

The caller told police a car left the scene and stopped near the General Electric gate and that a man got out and ran west.

Police located a man who fit the caller’s description and detained him during a search near the tracks.

They found the woman during the search and medics confirmed she was dead, the written statement said.

The man was taken in for questioning.
