Man admits raping teen in motel room

A 23-year-old Fort Wayne man admitted this week in Allen Superior Court to raping a girl during a party in February.

Shelton B. Stephens, of the 2000 block of Bayview Drive, pleaded guilty Thursday to charges of rape and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

He was accused of assaulting a teenage girl in a hotel room. The girl, a friend and Stephens had been partying at Stephens’ home and then went to a motel on Coliseum Boulevard where Stephens sexually assaulted her.

Because no plea agreement with prosecutors was filed, Stephens faces a prison sentence of six to 20 years when he is sentenced in October.
