Avilla man arrested on molesting charge

An Avilla man, accused of molesting an 8-year-old girl in 2002, was arrested by Indiana State Police on Friday.

Frederick W. Weese, 53, was being held at the Noble County Jail on a preliminary charge of child molesting. Police believe he had sexual contact with the child at a home in Ligonier.

The victim and her family recently contacted the Noble County Division of Family and Children. Those officials contacted the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division from Fort Wayne.

Detective Deven Hostetler then initiated the investigation, which resulted in Weese's arrest.
