Authorities say Ohio man ignored maggots on wife

CINCINNATI – A grand jury has indicted an Ohio man in the death of his wife who they say had maggots on her before she died.

A Hamilton County grand jury on Friday indicted 65-year-old Darrel White of Cincinnati on charges of involuntary manslaughter and failing to provide for a functionally impaired person.

Authorities allege White allowed 46-year-old ill wife Jorene White to die by not taking care of her or taking her to the doctor.

White tells WKRC-TV that his wife was determined to never go to the hospital again.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters says the woman was "being eaten alive by maggots."

Police say they found her dead at her home July 23 with maggots and rotting bed sores on her body. The coroner says she had died a day earlier from sepsis.
