Southern Wells crushes Garrett

Class A second-ranked Southern Wells racked up 23 first downs and 279 yards rushing to beat host Garrett 30-13 on Friday.

Cain Grogg and Kyle Jones rushed for two touchdowns apiece for the Raiders, who improved to 3-0.

Garrett’s Todd Frickey had 107 yards rushing and one touchdown.

BLUFFTON 18, SOUTH ADAMS 17: Nick Landrum caught a 37-yard touchdown pass from Cameron Gerber on the final play to lift the Tigers on the road.

South Adams took a 17-12 lead on Taylor LeFever’s 34-yard field goal midway into the third quarter.

Fumbles ended the first three drives of the fourth quarter, Bluffton got stopped on fourth down and South Adams punted to set up the Tigers on their 35-yard line with 1:19 remaining.

Gerber was sacked on the first play but then completed consecutive passes to put the ball near midfield with 23 seconds left. After three incomplete passes led to fourth-and-10, Gerber connected with Landrum for the game-winner with no time left.

Gerber threw for 266 yards, and Landrum caught seven passes for 133 and two TDs.

LeFever had a game-high 133 rushing yards for South Adams.

CARROLL 14, NORWELL 6: Cameron Wisley’s second touchdown run of the game, midway through the fourth quarter, lifted the Chargers to a road victory.

Wisley’s 12-yard TD run capped a 10-play, 73-yard drive with 8:27 remaining. Norwell moved to Carroll’s 29-yard line on its ensuing drive but had an incomplete pass on fourth-and-3 to give the ball back to Carroll. The Chargers were able to drain the final 3:27.

Quarterback Wisley rushed for 42 yards on five carries and completed seven passes for 87 yards.

Norwell’s Justin Shaffer had 71 rushing yards and a touchdown.

SNIDER 38, NORTHROP 6: Darin Barbour completed all three of his passes, two for touchdowns, and had a team-high 97 rushing yards in the Panthers’ rout at home.

WAYNE 55, CONCORDIA 20: Jordan Patterson scored the Generals’ first four touchdowns, three rushes and a pass, and added another later to lead a rout at home.

Patterson rushed for 92 yards and TD runs of 13, 14 and 18 yards and threw for 121 yards and two scores.

BISHOP LUERS 38, SOUTH SIDE 12: James Knapke threw for 185 yards and four touchdowns for the host Knights, top-ranked in Class 2A.

NEW HAVEN 35, DEKALB 7: Te’Vaughn Hurse rushed for 265 yards and four touchdowns to spark the visiting Bulldogs.

HERITAGE 27, WOODLAN 21: Will Knape rushed for 106 yards and two TDs, including a key 48-yarder in the fourth quarter that helped the Patriots win on the road.

Woodlan’s Nathan Wiedemann completed 14 of 33 passes for 181 yards and three touchdowns.

CHURUBUSCO 46, PRAIRIE HEIGHTS 6: Kyle Monk returned two punts for touchdowns and had a 46-yard TD run as the Class A fifth-ranked Eagles cruised at home.

LAKELAND 40, CENTRAL NOBLE 12: Dustin Wohlheter rushed for 323 yards and five touchdowns for the Lakers at home.

Wohlheter had a 70-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and added TD runs of 1, 4, 6 and 11.
