Dog day for catcher

West Michigan catcher Rob Brantly had one ruff, make that rough, day.

Jake the Diamond Dog was the promotion for Sunday's TinCaps game against the Whitecaps. During the third inning, the dog retrieved Fort Wayne's bats. The dog went to pick up a bat, but it fell out of its mouth. When Jake attempted to pick up the bat again, Brantly took it out of its mouth and tossed it toward the TinCaps dugout.

The crowd began to boo. It was just the beginning.

The next three times Brantly came to bat, he heard it from the crowd. The TinCaps staff played along, adding a barking sound bite when he made his way to the plate. Brantly flew out to center twice and struck out with the bases loaded in the seventh.

After the strikeout, the song "Who Let the Dogs Out" played.

He grounded out in his last at bat, going 0 for 5.
