Suspect in double slaying found dead at park

LEWISTON, Mich. – Authorities in northern Michigan say a 70-year-old man and an 82-year-old woman were fatally shot, and the suspect killed himself in Noble County.

No identities were released Tuesday, a day after the killings in Lewiston, 90 miles south of the tip of the Lower Peninsula.

The Montmorency County sheriff’s department said deputies were called to a home about 3 p.m. Monday.

The department said the suspect was a 50-year-old local man related to one of the victims.

Indiana authorities said he was discovered in his car, 300 miles away at Chain O’Lakes State Park in Albion. They said he had a gunshot wound to the head and died at a hospital.
