Motorcycle misfire starts 2-home blaze

Two homes just south of downtown sustained heavy fire damage Monday night after a motorcycle parked between them ignited, according to Fort Wayne firefighters.

The blaze was reported just before 8 p.m. Monday at 2607 Fox Ave. Four people were inside the two-story home at the time and escaped safely. Firefighters said no injuries were reported. That home, along with a neighboring home, at 2611 Fox Ave., sustained heavy exterior damage.

Firefighters said a resident at the first house started a motorcycle between the two homes and the bike malfunctioned, caught on fire, with flames spreading to the homes.
